Tameru ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Tameru mobile application and website at https://tameru.app (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
a) Information You Provide
- Account information — name, email address, and password when you register, or profile data from a third-party sign-in (Google, Facebook, Apple).
- Profile details — optional avatar, display name, and preferences you add to your profile.
- Inventory content — item names, descriptions, photos, receipts, custom fields, barcode data, and containers you create.
- Sharing & group data — group names, member invitations, lending records, and sharing permissions you configure.
- Communications — messages or inquiries you send us via email or in-app support.
b) Information Collected Automatically
- Device & usage data — device type, operating system, app version, crash reports, and feature interaction logs.
- Log data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps when you use the web app.
- Analytics — aggregate, anonymised usage statistics to help us improve the Service (via Vercel Analytics).
c) Device Permissions (Mobile App)
- Camera — to scan barcodes and capture photos of your items. Photos are only uploaded when you explicitly choose to add them.
- Photo library — to let you pick existing photos for inventory items, with your permission.
- Push notifications — optional reminders for lending due dates, group activity, and updates.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service and its features.
- Create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
- Sync your inventory data across your devices in real time.
- Enable sharing and collaboration features you activate with other users.
- Send you transactional emails (password reset, invitations, lending reminders).
- Send optional product updates or newsletters — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, security incidents, or policy violations.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these circumstances:
- With other users you invite — inventory items and containers you explicitly share are visible to the group members you choose.
- Service providers — trusted third parties that help us operate the Service (cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, email delivery), each bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account and inventory data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. To request deletion, visit our Account Deletion page. We permanently delete your data within 30 days of your confirmed request, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes or legitimate business records (e.g. anonymised audit logs for up to 90 days, financial records as required by law).
5. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), JWT-based authentication, row-level database security, and audit logging. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your credentials confidential.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@tameru.app and we will delete the information promptly.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights including:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — update inaccurate or incomplete data via your profile settings.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data via our dedicated Account Deletion page.
- Portability — export your inventory data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out of marketing — unsubscribe via the link in any marketing email or your notification settings.

8. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services such as Google, Facebook, and Apple for sign-in, and Supabase for cloud storage. These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to these countries. We take steps to ensure that your data receives an adequate level of protection wherever it is processed.
